| Hometown Hero: Patrick Yarbrough You asked me to write up about my son Patrick and I. We were on the phone as the second tower was hit, me here in Texas and he aboard his ship the USS Vincennes in Japan, remember? Well, had to add a new thing I did not know and a good picture. Well the things we mom's learn last. When the seabees were deployed to Iraq they asked for volunteers to go and head up security and Patrick volunteered. He was not reactivated like I thought. The "family" was worried about how I would take it that he volunteered to go. I am like, excuse me, his group is going and they need security on the ground for them and I being a military brat, a Captain in the army myself and retired Army wife, would not understand that he volunteered? Oh they all got into so much trouble with me for not telling me :) I have attached a good photo that his Command Master Chief just this minute sent to me. I said do you think for a minute I would not think my son would raise his hand to go and take care of his seabee unit here, his friends etc. Give me a break I am a smart mom. I just got his address and they are so far away there are no facilities for them at all, no showers no anything so they were begging for packages with items for hygiene in them. So tomorrow I start getting the movement going from here to start getting things together. Mary Beth Yarbrough |
